Many of you will know that Adam BInder has always been interested in the 17th Century Japanese Netsukes (carvings in ivory which were used as fastenings on Japanese Kimonoês) andhe has now developed a ÌÎÌ_Ì´åÇÌÎÌ_Ì´ååÕÌàÌ_åNetsukeÌÎÌ_Ì´åÇÌÎÌ_ÌÎÌ¥ style series. This range will be a lot smaller (approximately 1-2 inches all round) and intricately detailed. The finishes will resemble anything from antique ivory and different types of wood to the red lacquer commonly associated with Japanese art.He wanted to scale down and create a miniature series of highly detailed pieces which are in keeping with the original ÌÎÌ_Ì´åÇÌÎÌ_Ì´ååÕÌàÌ_åNetsukeês: Not only were they visually pleasing and practical, each carving told a story, sometimes obvious but other times left to the interpretation of the viewer.

An Ivory mouse measuring around an inch long will be one of the first pieces released in this new ÌÎÌ_Ì´åÇÌÎÌ_Ì´ååÕÌàÌ_åNetsukeÌÎÌ_Ì´åÇÌÎÌ_ÌÎÌ¥ range, along with Masks. All the pieces have eyes inlaid with Swarvoski crystals, (except Pumpkin Pie), once again in keeping with the original ÌÎÌ_Ì´åÇÌÎÌ_Ì´ååÕÌàÌ_åNetsukesÌÎÌ_Ì´åÇÌÎÌ_ÌÎÌ¥ which were often adorned with Coral, Mother of Pearl or semi precious stones. Some of his favorite Netsukes depicted human faces in the form of masks which portrayed characters in theatre. He wanted to put his own spin on these characters so he has created animal not human faces with their own stories going on behind the masks. The general release Masks will be open editions subject to sudden retirement. We will also be releasing limited edition box sets. The first set will contain five Masks in different finishes to the originals and limited to 100.

All pieces come with a certificate of authenticity and will be numbered and signed by Adam Binder.
