MAMMOTH TUSK IVORY

The ivory from ancient mammoth tusks is a byproduct of gold mining found in the layer just above the gold by both American and Canadian gold miners. In Siberia it is mined for its own sake, often found in deposits after violent winter storms have revealed a portion of the material sticking up from the perma frost near ancient lake beds. All mammoth ivory is pre Ice-age, 10,000 to possibly a million years old, except for a single herd of pygmy mammoth that died out around 3000 years ago on an isolated Siberian island. Coloration occurs from the same minerals that affect walrus ivory, however this ancient fossilized/mineralized ivory is often used for a nice creamy skin tone.

HANDMADE JEWELRY

Each piece from this collection is individually hand crafted in Bali, Indonesia. The craftsmen who carve both the mammoth ivory and the walrus ivory, and the smiths who make the silver jewelry do their best to reproduce the image you see, however, because of the variations in the color and carving techniques, the pieces you receive will differ from the ones illustrated, each piece is remarkably distinct. Your fossilized ivory jewelry will be as unique as human fingerprints, in that no two pieces are the same. This is your very own piece of history!
